Hurricane Season: Get Your Roof Done Before It’s Too Late

Like everything else this year, it’s said that hurricane season is going to be extra intense.

The website weather.com has indicated that “hurricane season is predicted to be more active than usual, according to an outlook released Thursday by The Weather Company, an IBM Business.” But thankfully, it’s not too late to get your roof fixed before the big one hits.

The StateofFlorida.com website lists hurricane season from June to October of every year, “with storms typically peaking in August and September.” That means that the months of June, July, and October are prime months during hurricane season for homeowners to get their roofs replaced if need be.

Some homeowners have the misperception that it’s best to wait until after hurricane season to fix any of their roof issues. On the surface it makes sense, why fix something that can just get damaged all over again from a big storm? But the reality is that fixing your roof issues ahead of time saves you from much bigger problems that can stem from existing roof damage. It’s been proven that a replaced roof is more secure and protective against a ferocious storm.

For that reason, it’s important for homeowners to especially take advantage of the June and July months during the storm season because holding off any later can result in catastrophic damage to not only your roof but also the interior of your home if indeed a hurricane hits your area. Then, not only would you have to fix your roof, but you’ll also have to allocate resources to fix the water damage in your home.

So why not avoid the possible extra complications and money lost from the extensive damage a big storm can cause to your home? Since you haven’t already taken care of the roof issue you have, utilize the downtime during hurricane season while it’s available to you. An average size shingle, metal, or flat roof home in Florida (1,375 square feet) to a bigger roof size of 3,000 square feet labor work can be done within a week’s time.

Tile roofs can take longer due to the availability of the tile type on your roof. However, it’s important to note that tiles tend to become extremely scarce after a hurricane or big storm hits due to the high demand and the manner in which tiles are produced. Thus, tile roof homeowners should be more inclined to fix their roofing issues prior to a big storm because any time after the wait on tiles can be months until they become available.

THE GOOD NEWS!

D&B Roofing is a boutique roofing company that services only a handful of customers at a time, which allows the company to treat each homeowner as if they are their only customer.

Permits go out to the city for approval within only 2-days of contract signing and an average size flat or shingle roof is normally done within a couple of weeks, that includes the city permit approval wait time (the longest part of the process), material delivery and the work as well as the final inspection completion of the roof.

Don’t let Hurricane Season stop you from repairing your roof, it’ll save you money in the long run.
